Bio: Isaiah Johnson is a software developer and social entreprenuer who has been apart of Oakland's amazing community for at least 5 years. After growing alongside many change makers and amazing causes, he has grown passionate about bringing forth social change, and after a variety of eye opening experiences that result directly from the game industry's lack of diversity, he decided to use his experience in software, social impact, outreach, and leadership to make a change. He has worked with a variety of nonprofits and social enterprises including New Dream and The Marcus Foster Education Institute to help create career pathways into the tech industry for people from underrepresented groups. Coming from a family that wasn't very tech savvy pushed Isaiah to work hard to obtain his goals. While this led to great energy and determination, it has taught him the importance of family involment, and how greatly families can impact their youth's future if they support their interests.
Isaiah's hard work to break into the video game industry has helped him gain recognition, training, and support from a variety of mentors from companies such as Echtra Games, Riot Games, Unity Technologies, San Francisco Foundation. He is continues to push his skills forward in programs such as Gameheads, the video game career acellerator, anda business incubator known as the Youth Impact Hub Fellowship.
